Tip: Building your website traffic

Added on Wednesday 21 Nov 2007

This is a tip from Christopher Knight who runs EzineArticles.com.

"If you want to win the Internet traffic race over the long haul, you must produce unique quality original articles in a high enough volume (think hundreds, then thousands) to grow your user base of trust and the trust of sites that refer traffic to your content."

As you can tell Christopher is not an advocate of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) jiggery pokery. All it takes is hard work, lots of content and you could be attracting all the traffic you can cope with.

What I'm reading

At the moment I'm reading 'How to Win Sales & Influence Spiders' by Catherine Seda, a book about how to promote your website. Catherine recommends adding keywords (words that describe your service) to URLs, meta tags, headings and alternative text. As an advocate of accessible web design - I like the message - that adding text labels to images is good for business as well as good for accessibility.

What has Jim Byrne been working on lately?

Recently completed work includes:

CARE website

A website for CARE, a scholarly journal for nursing, midwifery and allied and community health. http://www.healthqwest.org/care/

This is a simple website designed to attract submissions for the CARE journal, to provide submission guidelines and to make issues available for download as they are published.
